One Tree
While out cycling on Toronto’s waterfront last autumn the form and leafless beauty of this lone tree struck me (I find the skeletal form of trees in winter to be quite lovely as they reveal their intricate mathematical forms). Could it be the archetypical tree? The tree of all trees? The idea of a tree? Oh, that seems like a lot of pompous poppycock, doesn’t it? In any event, I simply liked the look of this little tree, so I snapped this shot quickly on my pocket camera and was fairly pleased with the outcome. Yes, the highlights are blown to Kingdom Come, but I am not an HDR whiz, so I have to tweak what the camera sees in an effort to recapture what the eye saw. Those long bars out in the water are the breakwater.
